Gym / Weight Update

Hi Everyone and happy 2013.  Not sure where 2012 went, but the new year is here and with it new opportunities.

Well a few months on from my original post about starting @ the Gym in Early September and things have been going pretty well.  No I have not turned into a buffed fitness freak, nor is my story overly dramatic - but it is positive.

The long and the short of it is that I now weigh around 85 kgs - approx 15 kilos less that I did at the start of 2012.  That's something to celebrate.  I'm not yet at the goal weight of 80 kgs but I'm confident I'll get there if I keep going.  I'm also probably the fittest I've been in the last 15 years.

Managed one more 4 day crazy juice reboot in early November after a trip to Las Vegas (need I say more).

The Gym routine has ramped up a little with heavier weights and I'm managing around 4 days per week on average.  When travelling (2x trips to Sri Lanka and 1 to the US since my last post) I hit the gyms every other day on average at the hotels - better than nothing, even if it was just 20 minutes cardio work.

I've also managed to mostly maintain the lower carb, lower sugar diet although Christmas did test this somewhat. Happy to say I survived the Christmas onslaught by generally having smaller portions of everything and never having seconds.  Also kept up the exercise (usually 15 mins on the treadmill in the mornings followed by regular outdoorsy stuff during the day like gardening or throwing a Frisbee with the kids). Doing this I managed to drop 600 grams over the Christmas period from Dec 6- Dec 28.  Not exactly awesome but not backwards either!

So I'm still going - will hopefully get to the 80kg goal in the first half of the year and then maintain it - forever.  Paul and I are still walking too when we can.

About the juice thing - bought a Christmas present for our household this year - a Cold Press Juicer.  It's awesome and makes juice so much better.  Worth the money.
